when Apple announced the iPhone 5s with fingerprint scanning technology, we didn’t think the whole fingerprint thing would caught up with the rest of the phone makers, but we couldn’t be more wrong. now, we seriously think it might the next fad after mega-size, mega-pixel and crazy resolution. the HTC One max surprises us with its own fingerprint scan technology, but as it turns out, HTC isn’t the first after Apple to offer such technology, in fact, Korean handset maker Pantech already took the leap back in August with its VEGA LTE-A smartphone, available through SK Telecom. however, what interests us more is the more recent launch, dubbed the Pantech VEGA Secret Note Smartphone which kind of cumulates some of key smartphone fads in recent months.

these includes huge display in the form of a 5.9″ Full HD IPS display, a proprietary pen input, a super generous 3GB of system RAM, LTE-Advanced technology, and fingerprint recognition slapped onto its back like the HTC One max. the latter is the very reason why the Korean firm named the handset “Secret Note”. this security feature works in conjunction with Pantech’s Secret 2.0 security protection which offers customizable security mode to protect your photos, videos and even contact lists and their associated messages and calls from prying eyes. how it works is, basically, enabling “secured” and separate storages, known as “Secret Box” and “Secret Phonebook”, for those contents which are only accessible only through user’s specified unlocking method such as fingerprint scan, pattern or password. there’s even an encryption to keep your sensitive data such as banking details really safe.

power comes from a 2.3GHz quad-core processor which runs the Android 4.2.2 Operating System. other highlights include 32GB onboard storage (no mention of expandable storage, though), a 13MP main shooter, a 2.1MP front-facing item capable of Full HD videoing, and a 3,200 mAh battery. as you might have already have guessed, only the folks in Korea will get to enjoy the Pantech VEGA Secret Note for now. no word if this handset will leave the shores of South Korean and ventures to the outside world.
