Pitaka, the smartphone accessories maker best known for its aramid fiber woven cases, has partnered with the original Chinese Three-Body franchise for a collection of Three-Body-themed cases. Unlike most collaborations between like, say, Casetify and Evangelion, the cobranding is very in your face, the collab between Pitaka and Three-Body is abstract.
The Pitaka x Three-Body Collab Smartphone Cases [CH] is a marriage between art and sci-fi. Two designs in the collection revolve around the main theme of Three-Body: the Trisolaris system where the three suns orbiting each other determines whether or not there will be stability or chaos.
The two designs each have a name but since it is a collab with the OG Three-Body, those names are in Chinese (三日凌空 and 三日连珠). However, the names can be loosely translated to “three-sun-in-the-sky” and “three-sun-in-row”. The former is in shades of red and the latter in shades of blue.
The “three-sun-in-the-sky” features three suns overlapping each other, and is presented in aramid fiber weaving of yellow and red. The “three-sun-in-row”, on the other hand, has three suns in a row but is presented in a way that one is behind the other.
The mysterious nature of Three-Body is exuded through the different shades of the geometric shapes. In both designs, the case has a triangle which is a pyramid, representing human civilization. Also on each phone case, you can find a Pitaka branding at the bottom, above the Three-Body branding, in Chinese, of course.
Both designs are rocking Pitaka’s MagEZ Case 5 magnetic aramid that, while exposed, flushes with the inside of the case.
The Pitaka x Three-Body Collab Smartphone Cases are available for iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max, Huawei Mate 60 Pro/Pro+, and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. It sells for about 421 yuan each, which is around 60 USD.
