The new Poco F Series came a little earlier this year. The Poco F5 and F5 Pro have been officially revealed and they are looking pretty good both aesthetically and on the spec sheet. The Poco F5 Series, specifically, the Poco F5 offers a chance for markets that has no access to Redmi Note 12 Turbo to buy a Red Note 12 Turbo because that is essentially what it is.
This means the device is powered by the 4 nm process Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 Mobile Platform paired with the fastest RAM there is today, LPDDR5, and UFS 3.1 storage. The RAM is further bolstered by Dynamic RAM Expansion 3.0 which can bump up the RAM to 19 GB using idle ROM.
Speaking of memories, the Poco F5 is offered in two configurations: 8+256 and 12+256. It has a 120 Hz 6.6” FHD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) Flow AMOLED DotDisplay that benefits from a 240 Hz touch sampling rate, 1,000 nits peak brightness, 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, adaptive HDR display, Corning Gorilla Glass 5, Dolby Vision, HDR 10+ and more.
The screen is also home to a hole punch camera, a 16 MP f2.45 capable of 1080p60 recording. Around the back, it has a tri-camera setup comprising a 64 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera. The rear camera can record at up to 4K at 30 fps.
Other highlights include LiquidCool Technology 2.0, OIS and EIS dual stabilization technology, in-sensor zoom, dual speakers, Dolby Atmos, X-axis linear vibration, IR blaster, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, 5G radios (obviously), dual SIM, NFC, Hi-Res Audio Certified, Hi-Res Wireless Audio Certification, 3.5 mm headphone jack, the usual suspects of positioning and sensors, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, AI face unlock, and a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 64 W turbo charging.
It has a USB-C interface but the USB version is not revealed. I suspect it is just 2.0 which Xiaomi has been using for like almost forever until recently.
For users who are looking for more performance and a superior display, the Poco F5 Pro (pictured above) is the device of choice between the two.
It is rocking the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip which is paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The RAM also features Dynamic RAM Expansion 3.0. It is offered in three configurations: 8+256, 12+256, and 12+512.
It has a 120 Hz 6.67-inch WQHD+ (3,200 x 1,440 pixels) which further boasts up to 480 Hz touch sampling rate, 1,400 nits peak brightness, 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, adaptive HDR, Pro HDR display, P3 color gamut, Corning Gorilla Glass 5, Dolby Vision, HDR 10+, and more.
The near bezel-less display is only interrupted by a 16 MP hole-punch camera capable of 1080p/60 recording. Meanwhile, the rear is home to three cameras: a 64 MP main camera with a 6P lens, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera. The main camera setup does 4K videoing at 60 fps and AI 8K at 24 fps.
Other highlights include 7th Gen Qualcomm AI Engine, LiquidCool Technology featuring 5,000 mm2 LiquidCool VC, FEAS 2.2 technology for optimizing power consumption when gaming, OIS and EIS image stabilization, AI motion tracking focus, dual speakers, Dolby Atmos, IR blaster, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, 5G radios (obviously), dual SIM, NFC, Hi-Res Audio Certified, Hi-Res Wireless Audio Certification, the usual suspects of positioning and sensors, in-screen fingerprint sensor, AI face unlock, IP53 splash-proof protection, and a 5,160 mAh battery that supports 64 W turbo charging and 30 W wireless charging.
The new Poco F5 and Poco F5 Pro are available now from Poco Official Store on Aliexpress with a special discounted starting price of US$349 and US$529, respectively. The special will not last forever and so, if you want one at that price, then perhaps you may want to act on it fast.
