For road warriors who firmly believe in computing on-the-road in style, Porsche Design (yes, again!) and Acer have just the right laptop for you. The Porsche Design Acer Book RS, as it is called, marries the best of Porsche Design’s style and the prowess of Acer laptops.
This is not simply an Acer laptop slapped with Porsche Design branding. It is more than that (or definitely more than the Mate40 RS anyways). Anyone who is a sucker for style (yours truly, included) will be checking their bank account right after they see the Porsche Design Acer Book RS.
The laptop is presented in a compact, straight-edge, all-metal diamond-cut CNC machined chassis and topped with a 3K carbon fiber. The two parts are connected together by unibody hinge that slightly elevates the keyboard when the laptop is open for better cooling and ergonomic typing experience.
Under the hood, it is outfitted with the 11th-gen Intel Core i7 with Intel Iris Xe graphics (optional NVIDIA GeForce MX350 GPU), 16 GB RAM, 1 TB storage, and a 14-inch FHD IPS touchscreen covered with an antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass. Befitting the sleek look is the ultra thin bezels that boasts 90% screen-to-body ratio.
The Porsche Design Acer Book RS is co-engineered with Intel and includes Intel Evo platform verified models 1 that meet key experience targets for consistent responsiveness on battery, instant wake, real-world battery life and fast charge. In other words, performance is assured.
Other noteworthy mentions include backlit keys, glass precision touchpad with multi-gesture support, dual copper heat pipes for cooling, dual-band Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+), a variety of inputs (HDMI, USB-C, Thunderbolt 4 and USB 3.2 Gen 2), fingerprint login via Windows Hello, Modern standby and Wake on Voice, and a 17-hour battery with fast charge support that will yield 4 hours of use with a 30-minute charging.
All these features comes in a package that is 15.99 mm (0.63-inch) thin and tips the scale at just 1.2 kg (2.65 lbs). Porsche Design Acer Book RS I7 Laptop is accompanied by a limited-edition 3-piece travel travel set that includes Travel-Pack RS and Porsche Design Acer Mouse RS.
It will be available end of November at select Porsche Design Stores, at specialty retailers, and at www.porsche-design.com. At the time of this post, Porsche Design is taking accept Early Bird orders on its web store. It does not come cheap, though. Expect shell out at least US$2,450 for a unit.
