Porsche Retro and Heritage Design Sneakers

Porsche enthusiasts can soon celebrate their love for the German marque with two special commemorative kicks released to mark the 60 years of the Porsche 911. Released in collaboration with fellow German sports equipment company, Puma, are the Retro and Heritage Design Sneakers.

Porsche Retro and Heritage Design Sneakers

The Retro, as the name implies, symbolizes the past while the Heritage Sneaker is the present of the Porsche 911. Both models are limited with each pair individually numbered.

The Retro draws inspiration from the Porsche 911 S 2.5 from 1972. The sneaker shares the classic narrow and flat silhouette of the legendary sports car and wears the Light Blue colorway derived from the exterior color of the historic vehicle, before finishing off with the number 56 on the heel – the same number worn by the Porsche 911 S 2.5 which it drew inspiration from.

The limit number can be found on the bottom of a leather tab attached to the side of the shoe, with eye-catching Porsche lettering on the top. On the front of the tongue, the so-called grill badge of the Porsche 911 S/T – a round badge on the radiator grille of the vehicle – is applied as a woven label. The grill badge bears the 60 Years of Porsche 911 logo in black and white and also adorns the brown leather tag (hang tag).

The shoe itself is very Puma, IMHO. It features suede overlays with smooth leather underlays and tongue, before capping off with red contrast stitching. The Retro Sneaker has a limited run of 1,972 copies in reference to the birth year of the vehicle.

The Heritage Sneaker has a clear modern, sporty silhouette like the car which it drew inspiration from: the Porsche 911 S/T. It also wears the design and color scheme of the new S/T, featuring a gray hue similar to the car while the shoe lining picks up the cognac-brown ton of the interior. A further mark of its celebratory nature is the number 63 on the heel, referencing the year the Porsche 911 was born. Also on the heel is the Porsche lettering.

The Heritage Sneaker has a limited run of 1,963 – as a nod to the first generation 911. Those are not it.

Out of the box, the left shoe of both sneaker models comes with red lace, while the right one comes with black lace. A second lace in each of the two colors is included in the box if you prefer not to go with the avant-garde look. Speaking of laces, there is an easter egg on the laces too.

The respective edition number can be found at the tip of the laces. In addition, the corresponding start number – 56 or 63 – is found in the heel area of the respective left sock liner; and on the right sock liner, the black and white or colored grill badge is located at this position.

The Porsche Retro and Heritage Design Sneakers will be available to order starting September 06, 2023, from shop.porsche.com and from the Porsche Museum store in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen and Porsche factory stores in Zuffenhausen and Weissach. They will also be available to order from Puma.com in North America starting September 14 and on September 24 in Europe. Prices are to be advised.
