Because of LEGO enthusiast Jonny Campbell aka Diving Faces’ persistence, fans of the 70s horror, suspense/shark horror movie JAWS will be getting an official JAWS LEGO set. Previously, Campbell achieved 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas but it was not green-lit. That was in 2020. Fast forward to 2022, Campbell once again achieved 10,000 supporters for the same but new and improved set. And this time, LEGO gave the nod of approval to the LEGO Ideas JAWS set.
So, yeah, a brick-built Bruce (that’s the 25-foot-long menace of the sea that has been terrorizing the waters of Amity Island, btw) is on the way, along with the iconic ORCA fishing boat. The set was inspired by the 1975 blockbuster which was in turn based on the 1974 novel by Peter Benchley.
The proposed LEGO Ideas set lets you build Quint’s shark hunting boat, ORCA, as well as the 25-foot ferocious marine animal. The ship features a detailed interior and is complete with a bunch of sharking/fishing equipment, including the famous yellow barrels that were used together with harpoons to mark the shark, and prevent the animal from diving under (or at least make it more difficult to do so).
The set will have three minifigures: Martin Bordy, Matt Hooper, and Quint. Campbell’s proposed set has an alternate build featuring Bruce breaking out of the water on a diorama with a plaque with the JAWS branding along with Brody’s famous words: “You’re gonna need a bigger boat!”.
LEGO is working on the final product design, pricing, and availability for this set. More details will follow closer to the launch. Meanwhile, you may learn more about this awesome set HERE.
