Redmi K90 Smartphone

Along with the Redmi K90 Pro, there is, of course, the standard K90. It is a watered-down K90 Pro but still rocking Sound by Bose, with some caveats. Its existence clearly caters to those with a tighter budget. More on the pricing in a moment. So what’s the major difference between the two?

For starters, the most obvious is the physical size and the lack of the extra Sound by the Bose speaker on the camera module. In place of the speaker, it has a “Sound by Bose” branding instead. The audio quality on the Pro is definitely going to be better. Furthermore, the camera bump on the standard K90 [CH] is glass instead of metal on the Pro.

Under the hood, the K90 is powered by the 3 nm process Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, whereas the Pro benefits from a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite 5 Gen chip. Both share the same 1.5K resolution, but the Pro uses an LTPS display while the standard K90 is LTPO.

The K90 is outfitted with a 120 Hz 6.59-inch (16.7 cm) OLED display with 2,510 x 1,156 resolution, 480 Hz touch sampling rate, 2,560 Hz instant touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. In addition, it boasts a full RGB pixel layout, along with the all-new M10 lighting material and Xiaomi “Green Hill” Eye Protection 3.0. The display’s brightness can go as low as 1 nit, by the way.

Unfortunately, though, it does not have the additional D2 standalone display chip to boost its gaming experience.

The device further boasts a 3D multi-architecture cooling system, including 3-stage convex cooling; a 7,100 mAh battery that supports 100 W wired fast charging; 22.5 W reverse wired charging; and multiple fast-charging protocols.

In the imaging department, it rocks a last-gen 50 MP dynamic main camera featuring a 1/1.55-inch Light Hunter sensor, OIS, and a 24 mm equivalent focal length. In addition, it also boasts a 50 MP telephoto camera, plus an 8 MP super wide-angle (120°) camera. Over at the front, it has a 20 MP selfie camera. The main camera supports up to 8K 30 fps video recording, while the front is limited to 1080p 30/60 fps.

Other spec sheet details include an ultra-linear symmetrical dual 1115F speaker setup, IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, dual nano SIM, 2G to 5G radios, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, the usual suspects of positioning, NFC, the usual suite of sensors, infrared, and more.

The vanilla K90 is launched with four colors and five configurations (12+256, 12+512, 16+256, 16+512, and 16+1 TB), with a starting price of just 2,599 yuan [CH] (about US$365).
