having a DSLR-sized sensor in a compact digital camera is exciting, but most would frown at their hefty price tags (they cost like a regular, full-sized DSLR). however, that’s not so with the newly announced Ricoh GR Camera. packing in an APS-C-sized sensor (read: DSLR-quality images) into a compact 8.6 ounce (244 grams) body, this new kid on the block will only set you back at just $799.95. yup. that’s like a whole 300 bucks lesser than its competition and with the similar, if not same features, to boot. fitted with a 16.0-megapixel APS-C-sized CMOS sensor matched to a newly developed 18.3mm F2.8 lens, the new GR camera features a newly developed GR ENGINE V imaging processor that supports up to ISO 25,600, a high-speed auto focus system, a super quick start-up time of one second, built-in flash, a 3″ LCD display with protective cover, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery good for around 250 stills or 190 minutes of playback, HDMI and USB output, 54MB of internal storage, and a SD card slot with support for Eye-Fi card. topping of the package is a retro chic design that we are not surprise to see from the Pentax Ricoh group. the textured grip, along with other finer details, somehow reminds us of the old 35mm DSLR we used to see. expect this little black beauty to hit the shelves this May. in the mean time, you can keep drooling over it with the gallery below.
