Not only are external lenses for iPhones not new; there is a myriad of types too. There is the anamorphic lens, polarizer filter, telephoto lens, and macro lens—whatever you can think of, there is one for your iPhone. But never in my life, I imagine one day a probe lens would be available for iPhone too.
For the uninitiated, a probe lens is a long barrel lens that is typically 40 cm long for macro shots of subjects without getting too close. It is a very specialized lens for DSLRs and mirrorless cameras that isn’t commonly used but yet, it is now available to iPhone users—thanks to SANDMARC.
The SANDMARC Probe Lens, as it is called, lets you capture close-ups and unique perspectives with your iPhone. The 12-inch barrel lens’ narrow design lets you maneuver through tight spaces to capture the perspective regular cameras cannot.
It features a wide depth of field, an adjustable focus wheel, precision-engineered premium multi-coated and multi-element optical glass, and integrated LED light with two lighting modes, necessary for deep spaces where light cannot reach.

Before you go ga-ga over the fact that Probe Lens is available for iPhone, you ought to know that the price is fairly prohibitive as far as add-on lens for iPhone goes.
It cost an ungodly US$335 for the lens only. If you need a case to attach it, you are looking at US$349.99. The new SANDMARC Probe Lens is available for the iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 14 series, and the iPhone 15 series.
