Sharp has recently revealed that it will launch its Sharp Aquos R8s Pro and Aquos sense8 smartphones in Singapore. They will go on sale in Singapore on June 03, 2024, from local smartphone stores and online retailers. The flagship R8s Pro appears to be the international model name for the R8 Pro announced last year while the Aquos sense8 was announced in October 2023. Key features of the respective devices are as follows:
Aquos R8s Pro:
• 1-inch Image Sensor: Captures high-quality photos with a sensor that collects a large amount of light.
• 14ch Spectrum Sensor: Measures and corrects light intensity and color to produce natural colors in various lighting conditions.
• High-Speed HDR Processing: Reduces white-out and black-out in backlit and low-light environments.
• Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform: Ensures high performance even during heavy usage like long video recordings.
• Thermal Management System: Efficiently dissipates heat to maintain performance.
• Pro IGZO OLED Display: Offers variable refresh rates from 1-240Hz, combining energy efficiency with smooth, clear visuals.
Aquos sense8:
• 1/1.55-inch Image Sensor: Features Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) for stable, blur-free photos even with one-handed shooting.
• ProPix5 Engine: Supports HDR photography by combining multiple uncompressed RAW images for detailed and rich gradation.
• 90Hz Variable Refresh Rate IGZO OLED Display: Balances high energy efficiency with smooth display performance up to 180Hz equivalent.
• 5000mAh Battery: Combined with energy-efficient IGZO OLED, allows for two days of use on a full charge with 10 hours of daily use.
• Waterproof and shock resistant, and conforms to the MIL-STD-810H standard (shock and drop resistance meets MIL-STD-810G).
During the pre-order period in Singapore, which runs from May 23 to June 02, 2024, the Sharp Aquos R8s Pro and Aquos Sense8 are offered at a discounted S$1,099 and S$518, respectively. After the pre-order closed, the devices will sell at S$1,299 and S$638, respectively.
Notes:
1. The AQUOS R8s pro display supports up to 240 Hz in specific applications, quadrupling the refresh rate by inserting black frames.
2. The AQUOS sense8 display supports up to 180 Hz in specific applications, tripling the refresh rate similarly.
