Following the Pac-Man campaign from last year, 7-Eleven is back with a new collaboration with another retro gaming icon: Tetris. So, yeah, America’s most iconic convenience store chain has partnered with The Tetris Company to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Tetris game.
In addition to introducing limited edition co-branded merchandise including retro t-shirts, hoodies, hats, stickers, keychains, and totes, it has also revealed a Tetris handheld gaming device shaped like 7-Eleven’s iconic frozen beverage, the Slurpee drink.
Designed and made by My Arcade, and officially called Slurpee + TETRIS Handheld Game Device, the iconic Slurpee cup has a flat side on which you will find a full-color 1.8-inch screen and various buttons. It has a built-in speaker, complete with volume control too.
But that’s not all. The Slurpee + TETRIS Handheld Game Device has some eye candy to offer too. There is an on/off switch to illuminate the Slurpee dollop in a rainbow of colors.
The handheld is powered by 3 AAA cells or a USB-C cable (not supplied), so it could be powered by a power bank too. I can imagine it is not the most comfortable device to hold but it will make a great collectible for retro gaming enthusiasts.
A limited quantity will be available to purchase for US$30. However, it is not clear when it will be available. You may want to be signed up to be notified when it becomes available.
Before that, you may want to know that 7-Eleven is giving away 20,000 limited edition Tetris handheld gaming devices in a sweepstakes. Starting on May 01, 2024, customers in the U.S. who purchase participating products via 7Rewards, Speedy Rewards, or 7NOW Delivery will have a shot at winning one of the 20,000 Slurpee Tetris Handheld Gaming Devices.
