Sony has unveiled its new VAIO S Series laptop that features a 15.5-inch LED backlit full HD 1080p display in a slim, ultra-modernistic design. despite being a 15-inch laptop, it measures under 1-inch thin and weighs just 4.4-lbs (2-kilograms). the laptop is clad in a magnesium and aluminum chassis and features the second generation Intel Core i7 processor with Intel’s Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 that increases the processor speed automatically when multitasking.
also included is a built-in HD webcam powered by an Exmor sensor for superb video conferencing even in low-light situation. while Blu-ray drive, AMD Radeon HD6630 Hybrid Graphics card with 1GB VRAM are reserved for selected models, and Solid State Drive (SSD) as an options to traditional hard drives. the new Sony VAIO S Series 15.5-inch laptop is set to hit the stores in October with a price starting from $1,000. also coming this October is the refresh line of 13.3-inch S Series with the latest second generation Intel Core processors.

SAN DIEGO, August 31, 2011 – Sony today unveiled an all new VAIO S Series laptop with a 15.5-inch Full HD 1080p display featuring a slim and light design and optional sheet battery for all day mobility. The new 15.5-inch S Series continues Sony’s efforts to offer users advanced performance and design that fits their mobile lifestyles.
At just under 1-inch thin and 4.4 pounds, the 15.5-inch S Series is easy to handle, while the Full HD display paired with Hybrid Graphics allows for increased productivity. The new 15.5-inch model sports an elegant design in jet black or platinum silver and is crafted with magnesium and aluminum materials for lightness. When coupled with the advanced large-capacity optional sheet battery, you can stay mobile and unplugged for up to 12 hours while also offering a thin battery profile. Intelligent charging enables you to charge the optional sheet battery separately from the PC and attach it to the system at any time without shutting down for maximum flexibility.
