Sony’s flagship WF-1000XM4 has received some pretty rave reviews, but the price is not for everyone. This is where the new Sony WF-C500 Earbuds comes in. It is significantly affordable, albeit with the sacrifice of features like active noise cancellation.
Featuring DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine), the Sony WF-C500 Earbuds restore high-frequency sound to create a more authentic listening experience.
In addition, you can customize the sound with Equalizer available in the Sony Headphones Connect app. Interestingly, if the battery life is as claimed, the Sony WF-C500 Earbuds will be one of the industry’s longest-lasting batteries – if not the longest – at up to 10 hours and 20 hours with the sleek, cylindrical charging case.
Speaking of battery, it also supports quick charge, affording 60 minutes of use with just 10 minutes of charging.
Other features include a splash-proof and sweat-proof design with an IPX4 rating, Ergonomic Surface Design promised to conform to most ear shapes, optional use of one earbud only, easy button operation, and Sony 360 Reality Audio.
The Sony WF-C500 Earbuds is a pair of basic TWS and hence, it does without noise canceling and the price says as much. It has an MSRP of US$99.99.
It will be available starting on October 08, 2021. Pre-order is happening on Amazon (US$99.12) and from Best Buy, if anyone’s interested.
If earbuds are not your cuppa, there’s the new Sony Over-Ear WH-XB910N Headphones. Though it will not be as affordable.
However, it being a pair of cans, the WH-XB910N will definitely offer fuller sound. And oh, it has noise-cancellation and so, if that and good bass are what you are after, then you may want to check out this pair of cans.
Key features include EXTRA BASS, Dual Noise Sensor technology that promised vocal clarity while shutting out the world around you, Precise Voice Pickup Technology for Crystal Clear Calls, Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE), Adaptive Sound Control, support for Google Assistant and Alexa, multipoint connection, touch controls, 350 Reality Audio support, and up to 30 hours of battery life with support for the quick charge that provides up to 4.5 hours of use with a 10-minute charge.
As far as the build goes, the WH-XB910N boasts synthetic leather and urethane materials.
The Sony WH-XB910N Headphones have an SRP of US$249.99 and it is available to pre-order now from Amazon, as well as Best Buy.
