Here are two Android smartphones for on-the-go music lovers and avid mobile videographers from Sony Mobile. The first is the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus which is touted as the first mid-range device to blessed with Sony High-Resolution Audio and DSEE HX audio upscaling technology and the second device is the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium (larger sibling to XZ2 and XZ2 Compact) that boasts the world’s highest ISO sensitive video recording in a smartphone.
Sony Xperia XA2 Plus
The Sony Xperia XA2 is a super sleek device, featuring a 6-inch FHD+ display in now-popular 18:9 aspect ratio, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Aesthetically, it has a diamond-cut finish anodized aluminum frame, punctuated by an one-touch fingerprint sensor and a lone camera setup. It may be just a single lens snapper, but it is no slouch; the camera is a 23 MP shooter that employs Sony 1/2.3” Exmor RS sensor that is capable of ISO 12800 sensitivity for clear low-light photography. 4K videoing is also in order, as well as 120fps slo-mo.
Around the front is a 8 MP sensor paired to a 120-degree super wide-angle lens with real-time focus adjustment to create depth-of-field effect. But the star of the show is sound which it has Sony High-Resolution Audio and Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE HX). The latter will automatically upscale MP3s and compressed sound files “to near high-resolution sound quality.” Bluetooth streaming also gets a boost with Sony LDAC that is capable of handling “near High-Resolution Audio quality.” Move past the jump for the specs overview.
Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium
The Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium, on the other hand, is all about videography. It is the world’s only smartphone with 4K HDR movie recording and has a 4K HDR display for you to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Speaking of display, it is a 5.8-inch item which Sony said is 11 percent larger and 30 percent brighter over the previous 4K HDR display. The real treat here is, of course, the new Motion Eye Dual camera that is made up of a black and white sensor for contrast and a color image sensor. It has an AUBE fusion image signal processor that processes image in real-time and at a pretty insane ISO of 12800 – the highest video recording sensitivity ever achieved on a smartphone.
Still imaging will also benefit from an ultra sensitive ISO 51200 that promised “clean, noise-less images.” In addition, it can do super slo-mo at 960fps in HD or FHD – thanks to the “state-of-the-art memory-stacked image sensor.” The front facing shooter is a 13 MP item that uses a 1/3.06” low-light sensor and utilizes the display as flash for low-light selfie. It looks like edge-to-edge display have not caught up with Sony, yet. Though both the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium and Sony Xperia XA2 Plus does have curved edges and deep black chin and top that offer the illusion of full view display. Just thought you may want to know.
