Speakers are, well, just speakers. They are kind of on the receiving end of a love-hate relationship of music lovers. I mean, you need speakers to pump out music that’s for sure, but not everyone love the sight of decor-invading speakers. To be honest, I think most people have learned to accept it, but what if I tell you that you don’t have conform to the norm? Well, you can, with the Sound Heroes Bluetooth Speaker by Kalium Labs. Sound Heroes is literally a hero for those who can’t stand the sight of grill-on-box speakers because it pumps out voluminous sound without looking like a speaker; not even one bit. It takes on the form of a polygonal humanoid. Yes. You heard that right. Polygonal humanoid. And therefore, it will forever change the way you look at speakers.

By now, you would have noticed the action figure-like sculpture here is a speaker and if that does not impresses you, then I don’t know what ever will. It is a freaking speaker without looking remotely like one, which is a good enough reason for us, and anyone, to be excited like a kid at the playground. Beyond being a speaker you want out in plain sight (probably even in the middle of an empty room), Sound Heroes is also a wireless charging station, an ambient lamp with 16 million color variations, a smoke machine (!), and a WiFi extender that allows up to 12 Sound Heroes to be connected. Ok, maybe twelve human-like figures sprinkle around home may be a little creepy.

Available in two sizes: a 17.7-inch AD’OM Prime and a gigantic 28.3-inch (2 ½ feet!) AD’OM Premium, Sound Heroes can acquired on Indiegogo, starting at $120 and $260, respectively. I am genuinely surprised by the price points. For a moment, I thought such an artistic (and futuristic-looking) speaker would command near-thousand, if not thousands, but as it appears, it isn’t and that’s a good thing. That’s also probably why the campaign was funded in minutes and well on its way to hitting $300K. Never mind the fact that it was on flexible goal.
