Split Earth Ants Ant Farm by Blake & Grant

I have to admit. Ant farm isn’t my thing. I am not myrmecophobic, btw, so it has nothing to with those tiny creatures. They just don’t interest me as a decorative piece or as a science project. However, this ant farm, the Split Earth Ants by brothers Blake & Grant, may just change my perspective about rearing ants. The ant farms you see today are quite kiddish and seriously, businesses have to know that adults too, may love to have ant farms and also, even if its targeted at the young ones, it does not mean they have to be grossly under design or look kiddish. Split Earth Ants, on the other hand, is a contemporary take of ant farms that anyone who cares about style would not mind one to be part of their home or work desk. It is an ant farm reimagined for the better.

Instead of plastics and toxic-looking gels, Split Earth Ants is made of real wood, in a choice of dark stain or natural, and each kit comes with real sand – or golf course bunker sand, to be exact – that the lovely harvester ants dig so much. The entire setup is not only contemporary, but it is also classy and stylish. All these characteristics only serves to make Split Earth Ants looks super cool. It is high time science project becomes cool again. Blake & Grant has taken this modern ant farm to Kickstarter, hoping to raise a modest $2,500 to take it to production.

If you think this ant farm is cool, then you may want to consider support the brothers’ endeavor by backing the campaign. A pledge of $50 or more will secure yourself a kit if the campaign meets or exceeds its funding goal in the next 26 days. Unfortunately, since we are dealing with ants, this brilliant ant farm can only ship within the U.S. That’s quite a bumper cos’ I am sure there are many in the international community would like to get their hands on a set.
