LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE, AKA LVMH, the French multinational luxury goods conglomerate best known for brands like Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Givency, Hennessy, Sephora, Bvlgari, and more, also has retail reaches on the high seas. Well, that’s news to me. I never knew Starboard Cruise Services was part of LVMH until recently.
Starboard Cruise Services has designed an experience aboard Celebrity Cruise’s latest ship, the Celebrity Edge, that basically puts Bal Harbor Shops on open waters and it is doing so by tickling guests/shoppers’ five senses: audio, smell, taste, touch and visual. The trip is a seven-night sail that departs Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Once onboard, guests will be treated to retail therapy with luxury lifestyle, beauty and accessories shops covering over 7,000 square feet in a setup referred to as “The Celebrity Shops.” Expect to do things like picking up unique signature scent to learning the art of watchmaking to shopping in luxury stores and luxury retail boutiques like Bvlgari, Cartier and Tiffany & Co.
It wouldn’t be a complete super luxe experience without some exclusive perks which in this case, includes first-at-sea brand concepts like the Vintage Watch Collection, limited edition vintage timepieces curated specially by Starboard featuring renowned brands. Brands like Atelier Cologne and Marc Jacobs are present too, with the former offering exclusive scents and bottles that can be personalized via monogramming.
Beyond retail therapy, guests will be able to pamper themselves with cuisines at world-class restaurants, reinvigorate themselves at luxury spa, chill out at classy lounges and bars, and be entertained by dazzling performances. Basically, it is the entire Bal Harbor Shops or equivalent packed inside a super cruiser liner. The only distance difference is, all those experiences are just downstairs and there will no chauffeur to pick you up or drop you off.
Also, we sniff woman power here with this particular experience because, Malala Fund. The cruise liner announced a 2-year partnership with Malala Fund to share the organization’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and gender equality. Though, details of the partnership have not be revealed. For a start, we heard that Malala Yousafzai, the 19-year-old Nobel laureate and U.N. Messenger of Peace, is named the Godmother of Celebrity Edge.
Wait, what? Ship has Godmother too? I wonder what a ship’s Godmother does. Or could it be just a symbolic title? Anyways, now you know.
