TAG Heuer Formula 1 Gulf Special Edition

50 years ago, Ford GT 40 with its orange and blue livery of Gulf Oil claimed its first victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Fast forward today, luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer, who happens to be a partner of Gulf, celebrates the achievement made five decades ago with the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Gulf Special Edition, featuring the legendary orange and blue colors of Gulf Oil.

TAG Heuer Formula 1 Gulf Special Edition

Based on the watchmaker’s automotive-inspired timepiece, Formula 1, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Gulf Special Edition features a 43 mm steel case, quartz chronograph, a notched steel bezel paired to an aluminum ring with tachymeter scale, a blue dial with a baby blue and an orange stripe, case back engraved with Gulf logo, a date window at 4 o’clock position, and rounding up with a set of matching blue leather strap accentuated by orange stitching.

It is a chronograph, if you haven’t already noticed. Under the hood, the movement boasts an accuracy to a tenth of a second, crucial to motorsport, and displayed on the small counter at 6 o’clock, while the minute counter and the current seconds counter can be found at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock positions. The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Gulf Special Edition is available as we speak, priced at $1,600.
