Perhaps diving is not your thing, and your idea of excitement involves four wheels and a right foot instead of fins and an oxygen tank. If so, TAG Heuer also has you covered, and to be honest, I am kinda sold on the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph X Indy 500. And if I can be really, really honest, Solargraph makes a lot more sense when the watch spends more time under the sun than under the sea.

Before we proceed to tell you about this delightful, motorsport-inspired timepiece, I think there’s a need to clear the air. The Formula 1 here is a watch series from the Swiss watchmaker, not the Formula 1 race, and so, no, the Indy 500 is not related to F1 motorsport.
Created to celebrate TAG Heuer‘s long-running relationship with the legendary Indy 500, the new Formula 1 Solargraph X Indy 500 is the 13th collaboration between the Swiss watchmaker and the iconic race. As with the rest of the latest Formula 1 Solargraph lineup, it is powered by the TH50-00 Solargraph movement, which converts natural and artificial light into energy.
The motorsport connection is immediately obvious. The 38 mm watch sports a black Opalin dial accented by a brown flange and a bright red seconds hand. Indy 500 branding appears on both the dial and the caseback, while a brick-pattern motif pays tribute to the famous Yard of Bricks at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. If you know, you know.
The watch retains signature Formula 1 design elements too, including the bidirectional TH-Polylight bezel and shield-shaped markers. The sandblasted steel case, meanwhile, gives it a purposeful look that feels more race paddock than yacht club.

Beyond looking the part, it remains a practical, everyday watch. It offers 100 meters (328 feet) of water resistance, a sapphire crystal, Super-LumiNova-coated hands and indexes, a date display at 3 o’clock, and a three-row steel bracelet.
The Solargraph movement is arguably the star of the show. TAG Heuer says just one minute of direct sunlight is enough to power the watch for an entire day. A full charge can deliver up to 10 months of autonomy in complete darkness. Even if it runs out of juice, exposing it to light for around 10 seconds is enough to get it ticking again. The energy cell itself is designed to last up to 15 years.
Limited to 1,110 pieces worldwide, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph X Indy 500 also comes in special Indy 500-themed packaging. It became available on May 11, 2026, with a US$2,250 price tag.
For motorsport fans, this may be one of the more interesting Formula 1 watches TAG Heuer has released in recent years. It is not trying to be a complicated collector’s piece. It simply takes the energy of one of racing’s most famous events and packages it into a watch that, much like the race itself, is built to keep going.
