Today, excitement ran high among Transformers fans. It will be even more delightful if you are also a fan of Zoid and/or Diaclone because the much-anticipated three-way collaboration between Takara Tomy’s three toy lines has been official!
Folks, meet the Takara Tomy Synaginex SHIELD-D-PRIME, a transforming action figure that is a result of a mash-up of Transformers, Diaclone—the granddaddy of Transformers—and Zoid. And because Diaclone is in the mix, this unit ranks very high on the playability index.

SHIELD-D-PRIME takes cues from Zoid’s Shield Liger in beast mode and then casually transforms into an Optimus Prime-inspired robot mode. Yes, this is the toy equivalent of wearing a lion on your chest and still managing to look dapper. The jaw is motorized for dramatic chomping action (no walking, sorry), and there’s LED-powered cockpit lighting for that extra “look at me, I glow” flair.
Articulation is everywhere, with movable fins, fold-out missile pods, and twin beam cannons that scream “Saturday morning.” Diaclone pilots (two are included) can hop into the cockpit, ride the included Road Viper bike, or chill in the Bullet Core pod. And because this is Takara Tomy, the parts can even be reconfigured into a support mech called the Beam Cannon Jet. It’s not so much a toy as it is a mecha building block of joy.
Launching February 2026 for 38,500 yen [JP] (tax included) (around 269 USD), SHIELD-D-PRIME is what happens when nostalgia, engineering, and unfiltered imagination collide—and somehow don’t explode.
