Good news for fans of G1 Transformers. The Transformers Missing Link line by Takara Tomy, which marries 1980s nostalgia with modern engineering, is welcoming a new member. Joining Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sunstreaker, Arcee, and more is the Autobots’ second-in-command, the Autobot unworthy of the Matrix: Ultra Magnus.
The Takara Tomy Transformers Missing Link C-10 Ultra Magnus looks very much like its 1986 vintage counterpart, complete with authentic Takara Tomy design and deco—including a hidden heat-activated mark—but it now comes blessed with more articulation. That’s right. Ultra Magnus can finally stand with his legs spread, and not going to lie, it looks super cool.
To be honest, I was never a fan of the original toys. Even as a clueless kid who loved catching fish from the river, I maintained a high standard when it came to toys. Translation: I could not afford them as a child, and my parents most definitely would not indulge me.
Anyhoo, back to retro Magnus. It’s designed with adult collectors in mind, and it can, of course, convert from bot to truck mode. Dear old second-in-command comes with an attachable carrier that transforms into a mobile operations base, if so desired.
In addition to the figure and the carrier, it comes with a converting Deerstalker figure, a non-converting human figure, a bunch of accessories, including an alternate head, a character card, and original Japanese-language packaging and instructions.
In robot mode, the figure towers at a rather imposing 10.3 inches (262 mm) tall.
The Takara Tomy Transformers Missing Link C-10 Ultra Magnus will be available starting June 28, 2026, for a collector’s price tag of US$194.99. If you’re unfazed by that amount, you may want to consider pre-ordering it from Hasbropulse.com.
