We are 6 months late on this. But while the 60 years of James Bond was last year, technically it’s not over yet since Dr. No was released in October 1962. So we are good. We are still within the window. In any case, it should not matter if you a big fan of 007 and a whisky connoisseur. Like, who cares if the 60 years celebration is over? When you need a good dram, you need a good dram, innit? Plus, how can any whisky-loving, Bond fan resist whisky packaging with 007-inspired illustration?

The collaboration between the distiller and the spy movie franchise is a significant one linked to their Scottish heritage. The creator of James Bond, author Ian Fleming was Scottish, and the first James Bond movie, Dr. No, was played by a Scottish actor, the late Sir Sean Connery.

Anyhoo, to mark the 60th anniversary of the longest and perhaps the biggest spy movie franchise, The Macallan has prepared a collection comprising six limited edition bottles inspired by each of The Six Decades of Bond. The packaging of each bottle features an original illustrative design and color to denote the decade it represents.

The distinctive artwork on each bottle is adapted for the bottle label too which is, IMHO, super cool. It is subtle, on point, and classily implemented. Topping that off, the label on each packaging proudly announced its James Bond association.

For those who don’t know, Bond’s whisky of choice has become The Macallan in recent years. In Skyfall, 007 drank The Macallan Fine & Rare 1962 as an ode to the 50th anniversary.
