The Oomph Portable Coffee Maker

The world is not lacking of coffee lovers who have the knack for designing stuff and The Oomph Portable Coffee Maker you see here is yet another crack by self-professed coffee geeks who claimed to be able to brew the perfect on the go coffee. Much like some of the portable coffee makers we have seen, it offers a combination of a coffee maker and a mug in one compact device that fits right in your automobile’s cupholder, but that’s not what make it shines; it promised to produce the perfect joe – thanks to its ability to provide the correct amount of pressure with the correct flow rate that its creator said, ultimately leads to correct extraction of the coffee.

The Oomph Portable Coffee Maker

To begin, you will need to introduce your favorite ground coffee (suggested 25g) and hot water into the inner chamber, put on the outer shell and plunge it down. The latter is where the magic will happen. The pressure from the downward moving plunge pushes the brew through The Oomph’s Smart Flow Turbine and voila, your favorite brew is ready for consumption in about a minute and a half. The only caveat we see here is, you will have to somehow find yourself the required hot water, which I am sure you are not going to get on a train or in your car.

The Oomph Portable Coffee Maker

The solution is to bring along a hot water flask, but even then, you will have to have a pretty good thermos so the water will be hot enough for whenever you need it. I see it as not quite on-the-go, on-the-go kind of coffee maker, but more like a device that you could produce a cup of hot joe at your rest stops, like a hotel room or convenience stores such as 7-eleven where hot water is available. The Oomph holds up to 13 fl oz (384 ml) of brewed coffee and when ready, you can dispense it into a mug or if you prefer, add sugar and milk into it and drink straight from The Oomph.

The Oomph is on Kickstarter, where you can help to make it a reality by pre-ordering one for 37-45 Pound Sterling (about US$55-67). If all goes as planned, you could be seeing it at your doorstep sometime in April 2016. Check out the product pitch video after the break.
