Remember our favorite EDC/knife company, WESN? Well, it has taken the next step in Everyday Carry with the introduction of, wait for it… a pen. Coming from WESN, its first writing instrument—called Bard—is not just any pen. The WESN Bard is a meticulously designed, fully mechanical pen that embodies the ethos of form meets innovations.
Beyond its minimalist, all-titanium design is an innovative ‘mid-click’ design that has the clicker partway into the frame as opposed to the traditional bottom of the writing instrument. This results in a perfectly balanced pen with a unique extended cap, offering the pen more length and back weight compared to a regular pen.
The clever weight distribution means the pen rests perfectly in your hand and effortlessly glides across paper with less strain. The Bard is a pen for the connoisseurs. It is a writing instrument for users who do not just write for the sake of writing, but for someone who enjoys the process.
Other notables included a textured click, a removable titanium pocket clip, and a full titanium body with a milled grip. The pen measures 5.3 inches (135 mm) long and 0.4 inches (10 mm) wide and weighs 35g (1.23 ounces). The pen accepts both Schmidt P 900 and Park G2 ink refill.
WESN has taken its first writing instrument to the crowdfunding platform, Kickstarter, where you can secure a unit at as much as 40% off the retail price, at US$75. Not surprisingly, the campaign has met its funding goal. At the time of this post, it has garnered over 1,000 backers contributing more than 120K in funding. Go check it out.
