Genki Covert Dock for Nintendo Switch

Among all the top video game consoles in the market today, Nintendo Switch is possibly the most portable. I am not talking about just undocking the unit; we are talking about bringing the entire setup, the dock and all, with you. OK. It is not the most brilliant idea, but it is no doubt more portable compared to PS4 and Xbox One. I think Nintendo did an awesome job with Switch, well, that’s until Genki Covert Dock for Nintendo Switch came along. TBH, Covert Dock makes the original Switch dock looks silly.

So what is a Genki Covert Dock? In simple, easy to understand words, it is a Nintendo Switch charger and a (very) portable dock. In other words, it is a Nintendo Switch dock that slips into your pocket (further bolstered by its foldable prongs). At this point, if you interest is not piqued, you are probably not a Switch user. Genki not only works with Switch; it is useful for putting images from devices like tablet or phone on the big screen as long as the display has available HDMI input.

The biggest draw here is, you can play your Switch with any big screen without bringing the original dock. All you need is this little guy. There is another boon here: Genki can be used to fast charge devices like your smartphones and laptops – even those USB-C-powered portables like the new MacBooks. So, it is kind of an all-rounder. Not going to lie. The proposition is very enticing. So enticing that Genki Covert Dock for Nintendo Switch’s campaign met its set funding goal of $50K in less than an hour after going live on Kickstarter.

At the time of this article, it has already blast past $300K in funding from over 5,000 backers. The features are just part of the reason of its success. Another could be the price. Early backers will be able to secure a unit, destined for December 2019 delivery, for just $59. 59 bucks may not the cheap by everyone’s standard. But considering that it is a fast charging adapter for other gadgets, I’d say it is quite a steal.
