Here’s a piece of delightful news for the Gojira otaku out there who missed the Godzilla (2016) vinyl figure when it was first available to order. Shonen Ric is now taking orders for the Limited Edition Toho 30 cm Monster Series Favorite Sculptors Line Godzilla (2016) Second Production. For the uninitiated, the Favorite Sculptors Line is a series that brings garage kits by renowned sculptors into fully finished products.
This Shonen Ric Exclusive Edition of Godzilla (2016), from Shin Godzilla (2016), features a brand-new sculpt by the acclaimed garage kit creator Kokuryu Kobo. Standing 28 cm (11 inches) tall—or a towering 60 cm (~24 inches) if you count that long-ass tail—this vinyl recreation of the radioactive kaiju as reimagined by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi isn’t just tall; it’s super long too. To be precise, it is over half a meter long at 56 cm (22 inches). The tail is so massive that it has two supports to prop it up.
While it’s called a second production, this is not the same as the first. It features an all-new sculpt created specifically for this release. Fully painted and finished, the figure makes generous use of clear materials to recreate the awakened state, while complex textures and detailing faithfully replicate the kaiju’s onscreen appearance. Deservingly, IMO, of one of the best Godzilla designs in recent years—before Minus One, of course.
For the Shonen Ric Limited Edition, the figure also includes an interchangeable head sculpt in its standard state, letting you display this beast in the moment before it awakens. Pre-orders kicked off in Japan on July 25 and will close on August 25, 2025, at 1700 hours. Delivery for this 45,000 yen (about 306 USD) figure is slated to start in November 2025.
