The celebration of 40 years of Transformers continues, extending well beyond its home base in the U.S. This time, it has landed in Hong Kong with a Toys”R”Us-exclusive Optimus Prime figure called the Transformers 40th Anniversary Global Exclusive Limited Edition Optimus Prime.
Based on the Legacy United G1 Optimus Prime, the figure sports a gold paint job reminiscent of The Transformers Generation 2 episode The Golden Lagoon. Though Toys “R” Us Hong Kong made no reference to that.
You don’t get anything special aside from a shiny gold Optimus Prime figure. The packaging appears to be identical to the 2024 toy, with the exception of a shiny sticker bearing the 40 Years of Transformers logo and, beneath it, the words Limited Edition, followed by X/40, where X is the figure’s individual number. So, yes, it is limited to just 40 copies worldwide.
It is available free starting July 7, 2026, for customers of Toys “R” Us Hong Kong who spend HK$2,500 or more on Hasbro Transformers products at the Harbour City store in Tsim Sha Tsui.
It has been three days since it was revealed, and my best guess is that it is already out of stock.
