This one goes out to movie lovers who also love original motion picture soundtracks. It will appeal even more to fans of live-action Transformers films, as well as James Bond movies, and the latest silver screen darling: Jodorowsky’s Dune.
These records are distributed titles which means they are curated releases and exclusive color-ways from other great soundtrack labels from around the world. Anyhoo, kicking off the titles is the Transformers: Age of Extinction Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Here are the official words from Mondo:
“On June 30, 2014, Transformers: Age of Extinction: The EP was released, featuring four tracks as a teaser for the official score, which features variations of the four themes (including portions of “Battle Cry,” performed by Imagine Dragons). When the full score from Transformers: Age of Extinction was released, it hit so many digital purchases and plays (not too surprising since the film was the highest-grossing film of 2014), that it legally had to be pulled down from streaming platforms. Thankfully, we are still able to enjoy the EP digitally, and now, on vinyl.”
While you can enjoy the EP digitally, there is nothing like a tangible record that you can admire whenever you want while you savor the tunes. For the first time, the Transformers: Age of Extinction: The EP is available on vinyl. No doubt a movie music masterpiece, the vinyl version features a jacket and full-color insert that showcases the stills from the film, and it further boasts a screen-printed B-Side.
All told, there are four colorful variants, with the entire pressing having an edition number of just 1,500 copies. The Mondo variant is even more limited, coming in at just 500 copies.
If you are down, you may consider picking up the Transformers: Age of Extinction: The EP vinyl record from Mondoshop.com for US$28.
Meanwhile, Enjoy The Ride Records, in strategic partnership with Curry Cuts, is delighted to announce the launch of “Songs, Bond Songs: The Music of 007.” This innovative project spans over six decades, celebrating the exhilarating narrative of James Bond, a figure synonymous with high-stakes action, cutting-edge technology, compelling allure, and formidable adversaries.
Central to the cinematic experience of the James Bond series is its music—a cornerstone that has significantly contributed to the franchise’s enduring appeal and success. “Songs. Bond Songs: The Music of 007” is a curated homage to this musical legacy, featuring a distinguished lineup of contemporary indie pop artists from esteemed bands such as Drive-By Truckers, The New Pornographers, Fountains of Wayne, and Bowling For Soup. These artists re-envision 26 James Bond theme songs, offering a modern perspective that spans from the inaugural “Dr. No” to the recent “Spectre.”
This compilation not only serves as a tribute but also as a testament to the lasting impact of James Bond’s musical heritage, reinterpreted through the lens of today’s leading indie-pop talent. Music and songs aside, this record is as collectible as any Bond collectibles. It comes presented in a sleeve with an image of a person in a tuxedo while the vinyl features a tuxedo pinwheel design with slightly different variants on each side.
For the full tracklist and to pick up a copy of the Songs. Bond Songs: The Music of 007 – Distro Exclusive for US$32 do hit up Mondoshop.com.
Finally, there’s the Jodorowsky’s Dune – Original Soundtrack. Here’s what it is all about:
“Jodorowsky’s Dune tells the tale of cult filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky’s unsuccessful attempt to adapt Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi novel, Dune, to the big screen. Composer Kurt Stenzel gives life to a retro-futuristic universe as fantastic as Jodorowsky’s own vision for his Dune–a film whose A-list cast would have included Salvador Dalí, Orson Welles, and Mick Jagger in starring roles and music by psychedelic prog-rockers Pink Floyd.”
Unfortunately, though, the Blue Moonphase Vinyl (US$42) is sold out 😭
