Transformers Soundwave Desk Lamp by RocketChickenllc

Soundwave’s lamppost form is one of those wonderfully bizarre one-off ideas that should have vanished into the fog of early-’80s animation, yet it became a cult artifact of Transformers lore. Seen only in the opening of More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1, the mode is a tall, inert Cybertronian surveillance perch—equal parts street fixture and spy gear—used for quiet observation before the Decepticons depart their dying planet. It never returns in the cartoon, but that’s probably because it has come to Earth, thanks to RocketChickenllc, as an actual lamp, albeit a lot smaller.

Though smaller, it is perfect for your desk, where you play out the iconic transformation sound using your mouth as you transform your many Transformers toys. We heard the lamp was first revealed at TFcon Orlando, though we are not clear which year. Anyhoo, it is a fully functional desk lamp and comes with an AC adapter to power it. I do not believe it has any articulation.

The Transformers Soundwave Desk Lamp, as it is called, by Etsy seller RocketChickenllc, is available now as we speak for a pretty hefty 275 bucks. No, you cannot trade your Energon for it.
