We just realized we’ve talked about the Transformers Studio Series The Transformers: The Movie Coronation Starscream twice. Why? I have no idea. Anyway, that Starscream is not a great toy, btw. I had it. It was essentially a retool of the Earthrise Starscream, which isn’t great to begin with, IMHO. Thankfully, his fellow Seeker joining the Studio Series ’86 movie lineup isn’t.
Folks, please meet the Transformers Studio Series The Transformers: The Movie Voyager Class Thundercracker. And boy, it is looking great! It looks like Hasbro has taken a page from the design of Takara Tomy’s MP-52+ Thunderscream (which, for some reason, we never featured). So yeah, finally, the other Seeker has joined the growing Studio Series Transformers: The Movie.
Standing 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) tall, Thundercracker converts from a poseable robot action figure to a jet—as seen in the 1986 animated film—in 27 steps. For those who don’t know, the alt mode of Thundercracker, Skywarp, and team leader/Decepticon second-in-command Starscream was based on the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle. Though I don’t believe this toy has the blessing of McDonnell Douglas (whose name was dropped after a merger with Boeing), it still maintains that unmistakable F-15 silhouette.
The Transformers Studio Series The Transformers: The Movie Voyager Class Thundercracker boasts movie-inspired details, retractable landing gear, and comes with his signature blaster accessories that can be attached in both modes. As before, Thundercracker can hold the arm blasters in his fists.
Unfortunately, pre-orders for the US$42.99 toy are sold out on Hasbropulse.com, but you should still be able to secure one from other toy retailers. The Transformers Studio Series The Transformers: The Movie Voyager Class Thundercracker is set to hit shelves starting March 1, 2026. More looks after the break.
