Fans of all-thing morbid, here’s a couch crafted with you in mind. This is the VonErickson’s Original Coffin Couch and as the name implies, it is a sofa shape like a coffin – a traditional coffin like what Dracula would have preferred.

Thankfully, this coffin couch does not appeared to be a repurposed coffin. It is custom made to look like one through, as VonErickson puts it, “miracle of modern carpentry.” In fact, it looks too much like a real casket when it is closed.

Yes. That’s right. This thing can be closed so it’d look like a coffin right smack in your room. I think the size also makes it look exceedingly like an actual coffin.

The seat itself is of classic metal spring construction with thick foam cushion, wrapped in velvet cover and in Chesterfield-style button detailing. Classy. Well, in a rather morbid (and some say, shocking) way.

It is hard to imagine anyone will want a coffin as a furniture, but hey, who am I to judge? I’d say anyone who is interested in a coffin-shape float would be down for this unique piece of shock furniture.

But it is not cheap. The VonErickson’s Original Coffin Couch is made to order and it costs a cool US$8,000. Keep in mind that the price does not include shipping/trucking and does not include the pictured Morticia Addams lookalike model.
