Xiaomi’s “iPad Pro competition” line of tablets is now joined by a new 12.4 version, aptly called Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4. Continuing with the iPad Pro-ish design with squared-off sides, the new Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 offers a generous, almost laptop-size, display that measures 12.4 inches (diagonally) with eye-watering colors and resolution.
The 12.4-inch screen of the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 boasts a 120 Hz refresh rate and 2.5K resolution (WQHD+, 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, 244 ppi), and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10. And it is incredibly thin at 6.66 mm and weighs in at 620g (1.4 lbs).
Eyes comfort is further bolstered by the presence of front and rear dual light sensors, and ambient color temperature sensor that work to automatically adjust the screen to the appropriate brightness and color temperature for more comfortable viewing in a variety of lighting conditions.
The new tablet also features a unibody design and a new antennae placement, concealed away in the camera bump.
Other spec-sheet details include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, up to 12 GB LPDDR5 memory, up to 512 GB UFS 3.1 storage, 20 MP HD front-facing camera with dual far-field microphones, a 50 MP main and a 2 MP depth-sensing cameras, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 with USB Type-C interface, ability to connect to an external display, quad speakers with support for Dolby Atmos, 10,000 mAh battery, and 67 W fast charge.
The new Pad Pro also has support for the Xiaomi Smart Pen (sold separately for 349 RMB) that can be magnetically attached to the side of the tablet to recharge. The tablet runs on MIUI Pad 13 OS.
The Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 is available in China with a starting price of 2,999 RMB (or approximately US$445).
