When it comes to portable Bluetooth speakers, most speaker makers would design them with curves so they fit the palm like a glove. Xiaomi clearly is not one of the “most speaker makers.” Case in point: the straight-up straight-edge design of the Xiaomi Portable Bluetooth Speaker.

This little fellow [CH] is devoid of curves, save for the round speaker grilles. I am not sure if it is such a good idea to have a device designed for the hands to have straight, hard edges. Anyhoo, never mind what I think, the Xiaomi Portable Bluetooth Speaker is here.
Packed inside its super-thin (~25.4 mm) metal body is a 3-driver setup featuring two 40 mm full-range speakers, each rated at 3 W, and a passive radiator. Interestingly, this little guy is designed for offline use too—a rarity in 2025 and possibly beyond.
In addition to Bluetooth 5.4 for wireless audio streaming, the new Xiaomi Portable Bluetooth Speaker has onboard storage with 4 GB capacity, good for up to 750 songs. It also has NFC built in for quick pairing, and like any good portable Bluetooth speaker, you can achieve true stereo sound by pairing two Xiaomi Portable Bluetooth Speakers. Actually, you can pair up to 10 devices together to create a mind-blowing sound field (!).

The device further boasts Xiaomi Audio ID, an innovative computational audio system, IP66-rated waterproofing and dustproofing, and a built-in 1,980 mAh battery good for around 10 hours on a single charge. Charging is via Type-C—obviously. Like its larger and more expensive counterpart, it leverages Xiaomi’s computational audio technology with a “nightingale” algorithm meticulously tuning everything from source to playback.
Moreover, built-in equalization, indoor and outdoor sound modes, and customizable frequency response curves let you tweak high, mid, and low frequencies in the Mi Home app. You can also create your own tuning style using Xiaomi Audio ID, tailoring the sound to your needs.
On the connectivity front, it supports Xiaomi Instant Play, Type-C, and Bluetooth 5.4, ensuring flexibility across computers, tablets, projectors, and more. A built-in microphone allows it to be used as a speakerphone.
The new Xiaomi Portable Bluetooth Speaker has been launched in China for 299 yuan [CH] (~US$42).
