Xiaomi may have unwittingly gotten itself into the real estate business. It has built modern condominiums and rents them out to its young employees who need them. The so-called Xiaomi Youth Apartments are part of an employee housing benefit program provided by Xiaomi for young employees, especially recent graduates and young engineers. That’s right. Xiaomi’s employee benefits go beyond affordable ice cream.

Since these young people come from all over China to work at Xiaomi, they often have to live in rental homes, which aren’t cheap, especially in cities like Beijing, Nanjing, and Wuhan. The rents for Xiaomi Youth Apartments are significantly lower than market rates, thus helping young people who have just entered the workforce reduce their living costs.
When creating these apartments, Xiaomi developed them with a product-oriented mindset. The apartments are developed like a product, continuously iterating and optimizing living details based on employee feedback, such as storage and soundproofing.
This being literally Xiaomi’s apartments, it goes without saying they are as high-tech as they can and should be. Rooms are equipped with Xiaomi and its ecosystem of smart appliances, which can be controlled and managed via the Mi Home app, creating a smart living environment.
In addition to the independent living spaces, the apartments boast shared kitchens and media rooms to promote interaction among residents.

Xiaomi Youth Apartments are available in Beijing, Nanjing, and Wuhan. Wuhan is the latest to be completed and welcomed its first residents just this month. The Xiaomi Youth Apartments in Beijing and Nanjing became operational in 2025.
Anyways, we’ll talk about the newest one: the Wuhan location.
Starting at 1,099 yuan [CH] (~162 USD) a month (which includes heating and broadband), the apartments are move-in ready and come equipped with Xiaomi smart home appliances, as mentioned earlier. From the initial design stages, employees were invited to participate in the co-creation process, helping optimize the living experience.
All told, the Wuhan development has 990 units spread across three blocks. The main unit type, accounting for 960 units, is a 26-square-meter (280-square-foot) studio apartment, while the remaining 30 units are 30-square-meter (323-square-foot) studio apartments.
This brings the total number of buildings across Beijing, Nanjing, and Wuhan to 12, and the total number of apartment units to 4,214. Keep going for a few more looks at the amenities of the apartments in Wuhan.
