Yangwang U9 Electric Supercar

BYD’s premium brand Yangwang not only has a Super SUV. It also has a supercar to cater to speed demons who prefer the look and feel of an exotic car (and also has no range anxiety, if I may add). Folks, this is the Yangwang U9, BYD’s first-ever fully electric supercar.

The Yangwang U9 is built on the same BYD’s e⁴ platform as the U8 but the difference is, it is a pure EV. Powering the supercar are four independent permanent magnet synchronous motors, each producing 240 kW. The motors are one of the industry’s fastest spinning motors at 21,000 RPM (though it is 500 RPM shy of Xiaomi SU7).

All told, the U9 puts out 1,306 PS (1,288 hp) and 1,680 Nm (1,239 lb-ft) of torque which enables it to make the century sprint (0-100 km/h; 0-62 mph) in mere 2.36 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).

The e⁴ platform on the U9 is an 800V architecture, featuring an 80 kWh BYD LFT blade battery pack that offers a CLTC range of 450 kilometers (280 miles).

It further boasts the DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System for enhanced suspension and performance and comes equipped with the DiLink150 intelligent platform for a superior track driving experience, offering details on nearly 30 racetracks in China.

In addition to having the first integrated carbon fiber cockpit in China that uses T700-grade 12K high-performance aerospace grade carbon fiber and autoclave molding process, the U9 further touts luxurious interior features including 14-way adjustable seats and a high-end Dynaudio Evidence Series audio system.

Not surprisingly, it is more expensive than the U8. The Yangwang U9 has a price tag of 1.68 million yuan [CH] (around US$232,400), making it the most expensive BYD model yet.
