There have been two “UCS” LEGO R2-D2 sets over the years (in 2012 and 2021, respectively), and yet, there is nothing for his faithful companion/resident translator C-3PO. Well, that’s until now. Folks, please put your hands together to welcome C-3PO to the “UCS” family!
The LEGO Star Wars C-3PO (75398) has been officially listed on LEGO.com for pre-order with delivery to start from August 01, 2024. I cannot say it is the most screen-accurate but it looks decent enough. However, I cannot help but think that the brick-built C-3PO here might have put on some weight.
As expected, this set is gold LEGO bricks galore because, well, C-3PO. OK, maybe it is more like yellow. It will be dope if the elements are chrome gold. Just saying…
Adult fans of LEGO with particular interests in Star Wars can build and display a highly intricate detailed brick-built C-3PO which comes with an information plaque of the droid, plus a space for the included C-3PO LEGO minifigure. In addition, it is furnished with a LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary brick—though it is a loose piece that attaches to nowhere.
While it is predominantly a build-and-display model, it does have some level of posability. You can turn his head and move his arms to create familiar poses, as well as reconfigure the arms to recreate the way he pats his old friend on the head. Awwww… LEGO knows how to tickle the nostalgia in us fans.
Anyhoo, when completed the 1,138-piece set stands 38 cm tall (about 15 inches).
