A poncho is an effective garment that keeps you from being drenched by the rain. It offers better protection against the rain, IMHO. It can also minimize footwear getting wet and keep your backpack dry. It’s versatile but cumbersome to carry when not in use. But the Nike U URG ISPA Metamorph Poncho would not be ‘cumbersome’ because it is also a tent.
Coming from Nike’s “Innovate. Scavenge. Protect. Adapt.” sublabel, the Nike U URG ISPA Metamorph Poncho can be transformed into a tent for when you need a shaded rest in the wilderness. OK. It is not quite a tent; it is a sunshade, but it is still a shelter, right?
In any case, you’d have one less equipment to bring on your adventure into the wilderness. When neither function is needed, it can also transform into an easy-to-carry, packable bag. Nice.
The poncho/tent hybrid is made from layered lightweight nylon, and it is, of course, completely water-repellent. It has a reversible design, a detachable hood, a 2-way zip closure, and collapsible tent poles.
The Nike U URG ISPA Metamorph Poncho is a luxury though; it commands a hefty US$620. Unfortunately, it appeared to be sold out on most platforms we have searched, including deadstock.ca and END.
