You know what they say. It takes a hardcore lovers of one thing to create a product that’s truly serves the users’ needs. And in the case of Gary Ehasoo, who is a (very) serious sandwich enthusiast, it is about making the perfect sandwich that will let you savor the sandwich with all the ingredients remaining inside and eliminating the accepted norm of sauce dripping. And he wants to achieve that with this specially designed doubled bladed Sandwich Knife. No fancy name for this kitchenware; it is just a specially designed knife with double serrated blades, set parallel and vertically offset from each other. The serrated blades make for easy slicing through the bread and it is space apart to the create ‘perfect’ thickness for a tasty sandwich. It won’t make your sandwich tastier, but it will make eating sandwich a neater affair – thanks to the said vertical offset blades which ensures you will not cut through the center of the would-be sandwich bread.
In this way, not only will it enable you to create the perfect slice, but also creating a ‘vessel’ of sort to hold all the sauce, ingredients and whatnot right where they belongs. This in turn means fall out ingredients and dripping sauce will be a thing of the past. Just think of the end result as the taco shell of the sandwich kingdom. Simple and brilliant idea that solves one of the greatest woe in sandwich eating history. We can’t imagine what’s not to love about such invention. While it is not overly pricey, you must be a dedicated sandwich lover to be plonking 38 Canadian dollars for a single-purpose knife and that, my friend, is limited to the first 50 units. The next 100 will run you back at $43 CAD a pop, after which, you will be expected to shell out $49 CAD for each. UPDATE [May 28, 2015; 8:13AM PDT] Gary, the inventor of the Sandwich Knife, has decided to take the production outside of the U.S. and as a result, he is able to achieve a lower price for the knife. Getting one will now only cost $25 CAD or about US$19.99. If you guys want to see it materialize, do show your support. We are not favoring anyone, but come’on man, this guy appeared on national TV (Discovery Channel Canada’s Daily Planet, btw) for his this knife. It must be something right?
