like its car counterpart, electric motorcycle aka electric bike is usually sneered at for the lack of performance, namely speed, but not with the 2014 Brammo Empulse Electric Bike, not this time. the 2014 Brammo Empulse Electric Bike now claims the crown of the being the world’s fastest electric motorcycle in serial production, topping 110 mph (177 km/h). described as “an evolution of the 2013 Empulse”, the 2014 model is driven by a 40kW (54 hp) electric motor, paired to a 6-speed gearbox with multi-plate, hydraulic activated wet clutch. the electric motor is juiced by a 10kWh lithium-ion power pack that offers up to 80 miles (129 km) of combined city and highway range, and recharges from 20% to 80% in less than 2 hours on Level 2 charging. overnight charging is made possible too, thanks to the J1772 charge coupler that plugs direct into a standard household power outlet.

the 2014 model features a redesigned, nickel-plated battery pack, a redesigned LCD dash with waterproof housing, a tapered aluminum handlebar for better riding position, and Continental SportAttack 2 rubbers – 120/70 ZR17 58W up front and 180/55 ZR17 73W at the rear. available in two flavors, the Empulse and Empulse R, the 2014 Brammo Empulse Electric Bike will be available this year (no specific, though) in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia through Brammo dealers, and carries a RRP of $16,995 and $18,995 for the Empulse and Empulse R, respectively. check out a few more drool-licious views in the image gallery below. trust us. you don’t want to miss this.
