At this point, mixing with crowds and meeting up with people are still not best of ideas. Taking a road trip on a super cool bike, however, is something you can totally do safely. Well, virus speaks, anyways. And taking a road trip on a super cool bike is what you can do with the new BMW R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B.
Make no mistake. These are two very American-focused Tourer bikes. If traveling long distances is what you are into, the 2022 BMW R 18 Transcontinental is the go to two-wheeler while those who prefer “emotional driving pleasure”, “cool touring” and “cruising”, the 2022 BMW R 18 B “Bagger” is for you.
Though, at a glance, they look pretty much the same. However, exclusive to the Transcontinental are front fairing with high wind shield, wind deflector and flaps, cockpit with four analog round instruments and 10.25” TFT color display, additional headlamp, Marshall sound system, engine protection bars, cases, top case, seat heating, chrome trim and engine in Silver metallic.
Meanwhile, the R 18 B, it has a lower windshield, a narrower seat and a matte black metallic engine – just to name a few.
But whichever you choose, you will get to enjoy the power of the new “Big Boxer” 1.8L 2-cylinder flat twin engine that produces 91 horses and delivers 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) of torque that promised “elemental pulling power” and “sonorous sound.”
The 2022 BMW R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B are available now with a starting price of US$24,995 and US$21,945, respectively.
