2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X Hypercar

When you think of Corvette, you probably think of it as a muscle car. Well, it probably was in the past, but the new 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X blew that conception clean. It is not a traditional muscle car. Neither is it an exotic car, though it may very well be, and it is way beyond supercar.

I know. The notion of Corvette as a supercar is unthinkable, let alone a hypercar. That’s right, my friends, the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X is an American hypercar. Aesthetically, it looks like it rolled out of an Italian exotic factory, yet it still wears that unmistakable Corvette DNA.

The ZR1X doesn’t just look the part; it plays the part. At its heart sits a 5.5-liter LT7 twin-turbo V8 that delivers 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft (1,123 Nm!) of torque. That’s already enough to dust most things on wheels, but Chevy wasn’t done. They strapped on an electric motor at the front axle for another 186 horsepower, bringing the total output to a ridiculous 1,250. The result is a Corvette that does 0-60 mph (0–97 km/h) in under 2 seconds and the quarter-mile in less than 9 seconds. To put it in perspective, that’s Bugatti territory—but made in Kentucky.

Chevrolet even thought about the finer things, like throttle response. Dual 76 mm turbochargers and a “maniturbo” exhaust (yes, they named it) push the turbos closer to the exhaust valves for lightning-fast spool-up. An anti-lag system keeps them spinning even when you’re off-throttle. Translation: the ZR1X doesn’t wait for boost, it lives in boost.

And then there’s the all-wheel drive system, borrowed from the E-Ray but reengineered for sheer lunacy. It isn’t plug-in; instead, the 1.9 kWh battery regenerates from braking and keeps juice ready for “endurance,” “qualifying,” or the delicious “push-to-pass” mode. Basically, it’s like a racing video game cheat code baked into the car.

To rein in all that insanity, Chevy gave it Alcon 10-piston front and 6-piston rear calipers clamping on 16.5-inch (42 cm) carbon-ceramic rotors—the largest ever on a Corvette. That translates to face-melting 1.9 G of deceleration from 180 to 120 mph (290 to 193 km/h). Add magnetic ride control, Michelin Cup 2R tires, and a carbon aero package with a rear wing the size of a coffee table, and the ZR1X is as happy storming a racetrack as it is cruising down Main Street.

Inside, you get Corvette’s latest cabin with a three-screen layout, Performance App, and enough telemetry to make you feel like a NASA test pilot. Outside, it’s pure menace, especially with the optional aero package generating 1,200 lbs of downforce at top speed.

The 2026 ZR1X is more than a Corvette; it’s America’s first bona fide hypercar. The best part is that it’s hand-built in Bowling Green, Kentucky. As for the price… well, it may be a true-blooded hypercar, but it has a sticker that can only be described as a hypercar disruptor. The ZR1X starts at US$207,395 for the coupe, and the convertible starts at US$217,395. No, we did not miss typing a zero.

There is also a Quail Silver Limited Edition, which features unique finishes and craftsmanship, and Corvette’s first matte production paint, Blade Silver Matte, since the 60s. It starts at US$241,395.

All prices are NOT inclusive of the destination fee.
