Xiaomi’s CEO and founder Lei Jun’s bet on an EV has bore fruits and is still bearing. But he is not resting on his laurels. When the Xiaomi SU7 was unveiled it promised that there would be a “Pro” model. Well, there is no Pro model yet, but Xiaomi EV has revealed the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype.
The holy grail of the SU7 lineup that wants to be the world’s fastest 4-door automobile. The Ultra is designed for the track. It is powered by the most powerful Xiaomi HyperEngine, the V8s. It is dressed for the occasion too, complete with a full-car track-orientated aerodynamic kit and it has been put on a diet to shave off some weight.
The aero kit, which includes a large racing rear wing, a large rear diffuser, a front splitter, and more, provides the track prototype 2,145 kilograms (4,729 pounds) of downforce while an all carbon fiber construction trim the weight of the car to just 1,900 kilograms (4189 pounds).
The HyperEngine V8s is a 27,200 RPM electric motor that delivers 578 PS (570 HP) and 635 Nm (468 lb-ft) of torque. The Ultra is powered by two V8s, plus one V6s—juiced by a high-powered battery pack with 1,330 kW.
The result is an electrifying output of 1,548 PS (1,527 HP) that enables the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype to rocket from naught to 100 (62 mph) in 1.97 seconds (!!!), and to 200 (124 mph) in 5.96 seconds. 0-300 (186 mph) takes just 15.07 seconds, and sending it on its way to a top speed of over 350 km/h (217 mph).
Not a lot is known about Xiaomi SU7 Ultra [CH]. However, we do know that it is equipped with race-use AP Racing 6-piston caliper front and back, paired with race-use brake discs and brake pads. Plus, it has braking energy recovery.
Xiaomi EV is still working on the Ultra. It will challenge the Nürburgring in October 2024 to prove its worth.
