It’s official: Japan Airlines (JAL) is sending Gundam into the skies—literally. The JAL x Gundam Fly to the Future Project launches on March 3, 2025, with a specially painted JAL Gundam Jet, featuring the RX-78F00/E Gundam (EX-001 G.L.R.S.S. Feather Unit) from EXPO 2025. So move over, Star Wars United Airlines planes and Hello Kitty Shinkansen— cos this might be the coolest branded aircraft yet.

But what’s a Gundam collab without Gunpla? JAL passengers can get their hands on the EXPO2025 1/144 RX-78F00/E Gundam (JAL Special Package Ver.), complete with exclusive JAL-inspired decals, or the HG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam [JAL Original Color Ver.], decked out in the airline’s signature white, red, and gray. These kits will be available through in-flight shopping and special Gundam-themed travel packages.
Not a fan of flying? No worries—JAL is also rolling out a double-decker restaurant bus modeled after the Gundam Jet, serving hot meals while touring Japan. And at EXPO 2025, visitors can marvel at a life-sized RX-78F00/E Gundam, standing at over 16 meters tall.
With this project, JAL proves that Gundam isn’t just a franchise; it’s a way of life—and now, a way to fly. If anyone’s intrigued and wants to find out more, do head THIS WAY [JP].
