Here’s one for the WNBA fans. The latest to join Bessie Coleman, Amelia Earhart, Katherine Johnson, and more in the Barbie Signature Role Models series is WNBA star Angel Reese.
The forward for the Atlanta Dream is widely considered one of the premier rising stars in the WNBA. Unfortunately for Atlanta Dream fans, this doll does not involve the WNBA team, and so there is no official jersey or shorts.
This tribute doll to the WNBA star, who has amassed a huge following for her fierce fashion, brand partnerships, philanthropy work, and more, features a face sculpt with an uncanny likeness of Angel Reese on a tall Made to Move body type, garbed in a custom pink jersey featuring her professional number on one side and her college number on the other, along with a one-leg sleeve.
Designed by Carlyle Nuera, Barbie’s version of Reese comes with her signature accessories, including a matching headband, necklace, and, of course, a basketball.
The doll is poseable, as with other Barbie dolls, but it also suffers the same fate as the rest of the Barbie lineup: it cannot quite stand on its own. I mean, it can, but it will easily topple over with the slightest tremor on the surface. This is where the included doll stand comes in. It lets you pose mini Reese in various dynamic stances.
Rounding out the package is a Certificate of Authenticity, along with a window box featuring Reese in her pink getup on the back, accompanied by one of her quotes.
