Having featured so many ThreeZero toys, I have never once talked about the MDLX Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, or Megatron. But ThreeZero has now given me the chance to talk about all three in one sitting.

I did not feature them because I find the designs too stylized for my liking. Yes, I am biased. Just as biased as those who think a Transformers toy that does not transform cannot be considered a Transformers toy. I mean, “Transformers” is right there in the name, but let us not reopen that energon container.
Created for the 40th anniversary of The Transformers: The Movie, the new MDLX 1986 Movie Edition series gives the existing figures movie-inspired paint schemes. They still will not transform, but at least they now look more prepared to traumatize an entire generation of children.
The 17.8 cm (7-inch) Optimus Prime receives a newly sculpted head and red backpack, along with 48 points of articulation, an Ion Blaster, Energon Axe, Matrix of Leadership, and six pairs of hands. Yes, there are enough hands to dramatically pass the Matrix to several successors.
The 12 cm (5-inch) Bumblebee gets all-yellow rear tyres to better match his animated appearance. Meanwhile, the 18 cm (7-inch) Megatron loses the swirl pattern on his chest and gains a cartoon-accurate purple Decepticon emblem.
All three feature die-cast zinc-alloy parts, engineering-grade plastic frames, and exclusive bio cards illustrated by Nobuyoshi Habara. Optimus Prime and Megatron are US$99.90 each, while Bumblebee is US$69.90. Shipping is expected in Q4 2026.
