Reservations for the Ultraman 18K Gold Mini Figure may have closed, but not all hope is lost. U-Treasure has another golden Ultraman waiting in the wings. However, this one is way more luxurious, much larger, and made from even purer gold. Folks, meet the Ultraman Premium Figure Pure Gold.
Also created to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Ultraman series, the figure is fashioned from K24 pure gold by skilled jewelry artisans. It stands approximately 51.65 mm (2 inches) tall, measures 34.45 mm (1.36 inches) wide and 25.2 mm (0.99 inches) deep, and weighs around 25 g (0.88 oz).
At this point, you should have noticed that it is not actually a figure. It is technically a bust, which, given its dimensions, is pretty large by U-Treasure’s standards. This means you do not need a magnifying glass to study the details. OK. Maybe you will still need one if you have presbyopia like me. Ugh.
That makes it about four times taller and over 31 times heavier than the tiny 18K version. Finally, an Ultraman with enough precious-metal mass to defend your display cabinet from financial stability.
The artisans studied materials from the original series and repeatedly refined the sculpt to capture Ultraman’s slender proportions and unmistakable appearance.
The figure also receives a matte finish, which U-Treasure warns could be damaged by rubbing it with bare hands or even tissue paper. In other words, admire your golden hero, but keep your earthly fingerprints to yourself.
It comes inside a dedicated wooden display case featuring the 60th-anniversary logo and a brass plate engraved with its serial number. Buyers also receive a card hand-signed by Bin Furuya, the suit actor who portrayed the original Ultraman.
Only 60 examples of the Ultraman Premium Figure Pure Gold will be produced worldwide. Each commands a cool 1,320,000 yen [JP], or roughly US$8,300, and requires up to 18 weeks for delivery.
