If you are looking for a super memorable getaway this summer, well then you will not want to miss what Airbnb has lined up for this year’s edition of Summer Releases. There is a stay at the Ferrari Museum and Musée d’Orsay’s clock room, a comedy night with Kevin Hart, living room session with Doja Cat, live in Kapoor family home in Chennai, India – hosted by Janhvi Kapoor, and more. But I am not going to lie. The real stars in Airbnb’s 2024 Summer Releases have to be a stay in Carl’s balloon house from Up (yes, really!) and Marvel Animation’s X-Mansion.
Drift off in the Up house
In the listing for Drift off in the Up house, you’d be staying the night up in the sky – though not by the lifting power of 8,000 plus helium like in the animation; the house with you in it will be lifted high above the ground by a huge crawler crane. Airbnb did not say how high but if the house is based on the dimensions as seen in the animated movie, I estimate it should be almost 70 feet (21 meters) in the air.
Since a crane is holding it up, there’s no worrying about it floating away to Paradise Fall or balloons popping along the stay will not bother you either. As expected, the house is decorated like you see in the movie, inside and out. Rest assured while you are up there, Russell won’t be knocking on the door!
Airbnb brought Carl and Ellie’s house to life to mark the 15th anniversary of Up. And oh, the host? Carl Fredricksen, the retired balloon salesman, obviously. The Airbnb Drift off in the Up house is located in Abiquiu, New Mexico. It can accommodate up to 4 guests, and it has 1 bedroom, 2 beds and 1 bath.

Step into X-Men ’97
Not everyone’s game enough to sleep in the air and if you are one of them and digs Marvel’s X-Men, well, then the listing Step Into X-Men ’97 is tailor-made for you. Airbnb did not claim and partnership with Marvel Animation but Step Into X-Men ’97 is an obvious nod to the new animation Marvel Animation’s X-Men 97 streaming on Disney+.
The coolest part is not only do you get to bunk in at X-Mansion AKA Xavier’s Institute For Higher Learning in iconic superheroes’ rooms but you’d be doing in a 2D animated environment. Save for the exterior and the yard (obviously), the entire house is a 2D animated recreation of Marvel Animation’s X-Mansion. Even the sign is cel-shaded too and there’s a Sentinel’s head – also cel-shaded – in the yard too.
The stay will allow you to explore over 100 pieces of unique X-Men stuff placed around the mansion, meet up in the War Room, leverage Cerebro to discover your mutant power, train in the Danger Room, and more. At the end of your stay, you will debrief on your newfound power(s), and collect your diploma and class photo, according to the description provided by this unique Airbnb listing.
You will get to stay in one of the dorms in the mansion which the Step into X-Men ’97 has 4 bedrooms, 5 beds, 2.5 baths for up to 8 mutants, well, I mean guests. If you have been looking for a place to hone your mutant power, this would be it. The Step into X-Men ’97 is tucked away in a secluded part of Westchester County, New York. It is hosted by Jubilee who is clearly a superhost.
