digital boomboxes are today’s music gear of choice. for some unknown reasons, we felt compelled to share our music with everyone around us wherever we go and hence, in this digital age, we have digital boomboxes. Altec Lansing has recently announced its newest addition, the MIX iMT810 Boombox which is an updated version of the iMT800.

this latest iteration features a 5.25-inch subwoofer, an adjustable seven-band graphic equalizer, a high contrast LCD display with artist, track or station info, digital FM radio tuner and dual AUX in jacks for two additional media players. other features include automatically pausing of music when a call is received on the iPhone (if iPhone is docked) and the incorporation of interference-free technology that eliminates the need to switch to “Airplane Mode” when onboard an aircraft. however, i have doubt if anyone would blast this baby onboard an aircraft that would likely result in stabbing stares from the fellow passengers.
users can either plug-in to the wall socket or free themselves of wires with 8x D size batteries for up to 30 hours of playtime. the iMT810 also charges your docked iPhone or iPod if it is powered by the wall socket. aesthetically, the new iMT810 looks largely similar to the iMT800 except for the updated chrome styling. it also features two grab handles, letting you do the signature 80s’ ‘boombox over shoulder’ style. well, actually not really but i am sure you will find a way to do it if you really want to. don’t you?
