Amazon Alexa NissanConnect Services Skill

Remote start for automobiles isn’t new, but this latest features coming to select models of Nissan vehicle changes everything. How so? Because you don’t even need to lift a finger to do the deed; all you have to do is use your voice. This is made possible by Amazon Alexa NissanConnect Services Skill. With this new found skill, you can remotely lock/unlock, honk the horn, flash the lights, in addition to remote start/stop the engine – all by telling your Alexa-enabled device to do so.

The new skill will work on certain Nissan vehicles as long they are outfitted with NissanConnect Services telematics. The skill will be available later this month on Amazon Skills Store, under the connected car category. The skill itself is free, but in order use this new found skill, you will need an active subscription to NissanConnect Services, as well as a valid Nissan Owner Portal account.

We can see from the list, there are a handful at this moment, or 11 models to be exact, from between 2016 and 2018. FYI, the new 2018 Nissan LEAF is also included, but it has a specific skill called NissanConnect EV and Services. In addition, LEAF from year 2011 through to 2017 will be able to check battery status, manage remote charging and cool down/warm up of the vehicle’s interior using the new skill via the NissanConnect EV and Services Skill.
