You probably heard the news already. If not, you may have read the previous article and have already expected the iPhone 15 Pro lineup. At this point, it has become kind of a standard, doesn’t it? It is not necessarily a bad thing. Anyhoo, so yeah, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have been officially unveiled and at this point, there is probably nothing you and I don’t already know.
The new iPhone 15 Pro lineup features a new strong and lightweight titanium design with contoured edges, a new software-based Action button that replaces the single-function silent switch, an upgraded camera system, and a brand new chip, the 3-nm process A17 Pro which is finally good for gaming, or so we heard.
The industry’s first 3-nm chip packs a new 6-core CPU with 2 performance and 2 efficiency cores, a new 6-core GPU, and a new 16-core Neural Engine.
The use of titanium has trimmed the weight of both the Pro and Pro Max models. The iPhone 14 Pro tips the scales at 206g (7.27 oz) and the Pro Max, at 240 (8.47 oz.) while the new 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max weigh 187g (6.6 oz) and 221g (7.81 oz), respectively.
However, the overall size experienced a slight bump. It is worth noting that the thickness now measures a grand 8.25 mm (0.32 inches) which is 0.4 mm thicker.
As rumored, the Action button is customizable. It offers additional options so users can choose between quick access to the camera or flashlight, activate Voice Memos, Focus modes, Translate, and accessibility features like Magnifier; or using Shortcuts for more options.
A press-and-hold gesture with fine-tuned haptic feedback and visual cues in Dynamic Island ensures the new button launches the intended action.
The new Pro and Pro Max model also rocks a more advanced 48 MP Main camera system that now supports the new super-high-resolution 24 MP default, the next generation of portraits with Focus and Depth Control, and more. The iPhone 15 Pro Max further boasts an all-new 5x Telephoto camera.
And then there’s, of course, the USB-C connector with USB 3 speeds.
Other notables include a 6.1- or 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display, Dynamic Island, ProMotion technology with adaptive refresh rates up to 120 Hz, up to 2,000 nits peak brightness (outdoor), IP68 rated, and a dedicated AV1 decoder for more efficient, high-quality video experiences for streaming services.
The new iPhone 15 Pro lineup comes in four new colors: black titanium, white titanium, blue titanium, and natural titanium. Apple will begin taking pre-orders on September 15, Friday, with availability starting the next Friday, on September 22.
The new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available in 128 GB (iPhone 15 Pro only), 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB storage capacities, and with a starting price of US$999 and US$1,199, respectively.
